Man Steals Computer From Church, Asks If They'll Remove Porn Block - Gizmodo Australia

An Oklahoma man has found himself in custody after having the bright idea of stealing a computer from the church, The Ossowa First Assembly of God, that he regularly attended.

When a church employee noticed the computer missing and reported it to police there were no clues, and no sign of a break in.  This fine upstanding gentleman had pretty much walked out with the holy PC with no witnesses.  So how did they track this criminal mastermind down?

The first clue came when the company that installed filtering software on the computer, Covenant Eyes (yeah), noticed that someone was trying to access pornography from the missing device.  This was soon followed up by a phone call to the filtering company from the perpetrator requesting that the filtering software be removed.  Needless to say the Covenant Eyes employee denied the request and notified the church, who passed on the details to the local police.

Upon arrest this bright spark denied stealing the computer, which was promptly found in his possession after a brief search of his home.

So for risking jail time, and potential damnation, I hereby award this gentlemen this weeks "Clever Geek Of The Week" award.
